Protected, owned and managed by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.

Nana’s Woods contains globally rare Great Lakes open dune habitat and high-quality northern mesic forest habitat. The property is important for migrating birds as it sits on a major bird migration corridor following the Lake Michigan coast.

The property was donated by Judith Crissman Twigg in honor of her grandchildren in 2013. In 2014, Judy dedicated Nana’s Woods to her dear friend and GTRLC’s former Director of Stewardship Abby Gartland, to honor her tireless love and devotion to natural lands.

Because this property is located on a private road, prior approval is required to access it. Please contact us for details at (231) 929-7911.
