More Ways You Can Make A Lasting Impact
Pledges
When considering a gift of cash, you can make an immediate gift or pledge your support to be paid over several years. Contributions are tax deductible.
Gifts of Land
If you have property that you would like to donate to the Conservancy, please call us prior to making this donation. Some land may be of significant conservation value that would be added to the Conservancy’s portfolio of protected lands, once transferred from your ownership to ours. Other properties may be sold or traded so that the proceeds can be used to further our mission. If the land’s value has risen over time, it’s considered an appreciated asset and may qualify for state and federal tax deductions as well as the avoidance of capital gains.
Conservation Easement Donations
If you own land with important resources, donating a conservation easement is an effective way to conserve the land you love while maintaining your private property rights and possibly realizing significant federal tax benefits.
Make a Planned Gift or Bequest
The term “planned giving” refers to future charitable gifts. Because so much of our land protection work is about ensuring the the places we save today will be protected forever, planned gifts are indispensable.
Find more info in our Planned Giving Brochure and our Bequests Brochure.
Give Stock or Other Securities
You can make a contribution in the form of stocks, bonds, IRAs or mutual funds. When you make a gift of securities directly to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy you may avoid certain kinds of taxes, such as capital gains. Contact us for securities transfer instructions and to ensure the proper handling of your contribution.
An Important Note on Donations
In the event that fundraising support for a project exceeds the original project fundraising goal, the Conservancy will allocate the overage to purposes that the Conservancy determines further its mission, such as organizational costs, to protect additional land, or to care for the long-term stewardship of protected land.
