The work of the Conservancy to protect our natural, scenic and farm lands, and advance stewardship could not happen without passionate advocates for the natural world. As Edward Abbey put it, “The idea of wilderness needs no defense, it only needs defenders.” We need you to share your enthusiasm for the incredible places in northern Michigan that are sure to foster future generations of environmental stewardship.

No matter the focus of the hike, all hike leaders are responsible for relaying the following:

  • Introduction and background of the Conservancy
  • Background of the property that you’re hiking on
  • Safety considerations including poison ivy, sunblock, ticks etc.
  • Circulating GTRLC event sign in sheets (and returning completed sheets to GTRLC)

Much of the event work will depend on the location of the event, though some tasks may occur in our offices at 3860 N Long Lake Rd, Suite D.
