If you’re 70 1/2 or older, you may be able to make a tax-free distribution from your IRA to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. Your gift can be used to satisfy your required minimum distribution.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) also known as IRA Charitable Rollovers, are the savviest way for individuals age 70 1/2 or older to use their IRAs to maximize their charitable impact.
How it works:
You can donate up to $100,000 from your IRA to GTRLC without paying any federal income tax. Your gift can be made simply by notifying your IRA plan custodian of your intent to make a qualified charitable distribution to the Conservancy. The distribution is transferred directly from your IRA to the Conservancy and is not subject to federal income taxes.
GTRLC has partnered with Freewill to provide a process that makes giving from your IRA easier than ever. Whether you want to make a QCD gift to Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy today, request a tax acknowledgment letter for a gift already made, or just learn more about QCDs, you can find resources to help you at www.freewill.com/qcd/gtrlc.
Consult your plan administrator or your tax advisors for more information about QCD’s and specific tax advice.
