We recently helped Long Lake Township apply for and secure a $194,400 grant for a UA trail at the Timbers Recreation Area, one of Grand Traverse County’s most beloved parks. This trail is currently in the planning phases, and construction is likely to begin in 2019. Although all details have yet to be finalized, plans call for an out-and-back trail that will begin at the parking area and go down to Long Lake, then over to the south end of Fern Lake, ending at a small overlook and fishing platform.

In addition to taking visitors down to the water and through the woods, the trail will go by the striking stone and wood barns that date to when the property was a large vacation estate owned by the Chicago-based Armour family.

We are excited about the opportunity to provide a quality UA trail so close to the region’s population center in Traverse City.
